Leader shares info. Offers notes. (Suggestion for this in the future: With many of the gals choosing the smaller notebook, can we print our notes in landscape mode with 2 columns? That way we can cut in half and paste in the notebook later.)
-
Invite participants to share their highlights from reading the assigned chapter
-
Ask a question (or 2 or 3) to think about quietly.
-
You can then have them debrief in groups of 3 (if some groups have 4 then usually one person gets shortchanged on time)
-
Group people of like-mindedness on something (it’s great if you can come up with categories to tie it in to the a topic). When they are together in their groups: share personal application or do some other activity that reinforces or expands the learning.
-
Let groups of 3 or more come up with ideas/examples of the topic. In the case of Imperfection, personal examples are the best.
-
Ask an individual to read a section of the text.
-
Ask the group to read aloud together a particularly special quote or Scripture verse.

Any other ideas?
These are just some ideas to get your creative juices flowing on how to facilitate when you lead.
When Jim and I teach, we make a guess how long each element will take (I especially have a hard time keeping track of time)
We usually use a framework of starting with something devotional, then equal parts: teaching/sharing as a group/discussing in 2-3s/and individual reflection.
I don’t know that the individual reflection works very well with a group of women and when we only have a couple hours together…
And, these are just some ideas that have worked with us, to spark ideas for you if you don’t want to/or fear “teaching” the whole time!
