ADULTS: Physical Worship Enacted Prayer & Diamond Ensemble (2 hours)

plan 2 hours for this
Circle intros

Important points to make:
You don’t have to be a dancer
Even those who don’t feel graceful are amazing at it if they get over their inhibitions.

A. Diamond Ensemble

A picture of the body working together in unity. Only 4 simple “rules”

Rules
1. Go slowly,
2. Use levels,

Try it. As a group, follow me first as a mirror, notice how slowly I go

Rules:
3.¼ turn only to pass,
4. no movement in front of yourself

1st time just try it to relax, Music: Rock of Ages (4 min)

what did you learn?

2nd Read Psalm 62 and then the groups do it.

What did you learn?

3rd Read phrases from Psalm 62 and let individuals repeat words or phrases as echo

Close in prayer & take a break.

B. Enacted Prayer (use EP handout)
1. Read through the notes (which are also posted on this blog - search Enacted Prayer)
2. Quiet, prepare hearts, listen to “The Offering” or “Carol Ann” so they are familiar with the music. Let them each have one cloth, to manipulate and experiment with individually during this 1st time.
3. Process.
4. Try a prayer of thanksgiving based on Psalm 62
5. Ask them for a prayer request that’s been on their heard that they’d like to experience breakthrough in.
6. Process after each prayer. Ask the person with the request: How do you feel about this prayer? Was there anything important that we missed?
Ask the group of actors: What did you learn? How might you have done it better?
