notes
on media formats
All the necessary viewers & media players
are available as free downloads.
You will find a link to the web sites for all the following products in
the folder labeled “_file viewers.”
Most of the documents included on this CD are in
Adobe’s PDF format (portable document format), which will open in Adobe
Reader. There are a few select
Microsoft Word documents (like this one) that have hyperlinks in them. A number of the folders also contain
Microsoft PowerPoint™ presentations.
You will also discover many audio files in mp3 format. For Windows users, these files can be played with Windows
Media Player. Or if you prefer,
you will find links for iTunes and Real Player included. These media players will also play this
CD-ROM’s movie files (in mpeg format).
notes
on copyright issues
We are very grateful to all the contributors for
sharing this material, and they maintain ownership. You have permission to play
the media examples for non-profit meetings such as a school class or church
meeting but nothing more without asking permission from the owner(s).
If you want to post materials found here at
websites, print more than 5 copies for students, or circulate them in any other
way (including digitally copying a file), you must contact the presenter for
permission. If no contact information for them is given, you can write
EthnoDoxology journal at ethnodox1@netscape.net
and we will pass on your request to them. This holds true for all forms of media on the CD-ROM
including text documents, photos, movies, and PowerPoint presentations.
The exception is that students writing research
papers who need to quote short excerpts from a presentation may do so in the
same way they would quote any written document (and it should be listed it in
their bibliography). If a professor plans to make much use of the materials, we
encourage each student to get their own copy of the CD-ROM.
