Warm Up Exercise:
Shake

In Pairs talking to one another about ___________ call out
character, then switch
Put suggested characters & situations up on screen
Let them pick and their partner has to go along with it and
guess.
SAT:
9:00 - 10:00 - worship and devotion
10:00 - 12:00 noon - Session 1
IMPROVISATION
Warm Up Exercise to get them up off
their butts: 1. Shake out
2. Musical sculpture 3. Walking
characters in a circle 4. Mirror
What is it? Write on board their ideas

Teach Machine Improv for “Living Room” tonight
“Freeze” using Imrov ideas from
McCusker’s book Pg. 71 to start things going.

ACTING:
Both start with a warm up:
Isolations
Faith teaches
- speech & articulation
- voice: pitch, volume, tempo, quality
- emphasis, inflection, pause, rhythym
IDEA:
Let each participant introduce themselves with: ”People say I’m
__________________, but I’m really [pantomime and action]”
- responding/listening
- character development
- Acting (being!)
IDEA:
“1-10” Dialogue that communicates character, emotion, situation. Let others
guess.
- Memorising lines
- What to do with your hands
- Calisthenics/body movement
3:00 - 3:30 - Teabreak
3:30 - 5:30 p.m. - Session 3
Faith leads a Warm-up/Improv
“Scenes to Go” (pass out cards let
participants suggest 3 characters, 1 big problem, 1 place & pass in. Make
improv scenes from these)

HOMEWORK: Overnight work - Script
Analysis:

the Scene into "Beats"
Give out scripts (The group will be divided into two - one group will be with
Faith, one with Kimberly for the scene work tomorrow. The two groups will be
working off of the same set of scenes - 10 or more depending on how many
participants and what's reasonable to get done in a 2 hour slot
tomorrow)

> 6:45 - 8:30 p.m. "Living Room" (showcase evening)

& Andrew a dance)

THE DIRECTOR'S ROLE and the other artists who make it happen
Hand out: sheet with descriptions of the other jobs
in the theatre.
If there is time give groups 20+ minutes to
rehearse with their assigned directors.

> 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Session 2 SCENE WORK
Warm Up: Isolations, John 3:16 one
work at a time.
Half the group goes with Faith the other with
Kimberly so that the participants get some experience working with us as
directors. We will choose the best scene from our groups (2 total) to be part
of the Living Room in the evening.

> 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. - Session 3
The group again divides into two for separate
sessions
BOOKWORK – Kimberly
Warm Up: The story train
teaches how to perform reader's theatre
The participants will come up with one example to
perform in the Living Room tonight.
BODYWORK - Faith
teaches examples of more stylized theatre
The particpants will come up with one or two
examples for the Living Room (Freeze Frames of a Parable or Miracle story using
a Bible reading as text)
5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Dinner
6:45 - 8:30 p.m. "Living Room" (showcase evening)
DRAMA students present 5 pieces from
what they learned during the day.
